Hello
I’m Ana — a mum, gardener, writer, prepper and the creator of Ana’s Food & Lifestyle.
I’m not living off-grid and I don’t have a bunker. I’m an ordinary person running a normal family home who believes it makes sense to be a little more prepared and a little less dependent on everything working perfectly all the time.
For me, prepping is practical: keeping a useful pantry, growing and preserving food, preparing for power or water outages, learning useful skills and building a more resilient household one step at a time.
This website brings all of that together — prepping, food, growing, practical resilience, guides, videos, books and resources for ordinary households.
My Story
My Story
I grew up in a background where growing, storing and preserving food was normal. A well-stocked pantry wasn’t called “prepping” — it was simply part of everyday life.
That way of thinking stayed with me.
Over the years I became increasingly interested in growing my own food, preserving harvests, cooking from scratch and finding practical ways to make our household more self-reliant. What began as food and lifestyle content gradually developed into a much wider interest in food security, preparedness and household resilience.
That became Ana’s Food & Lifestyle, where I now talk about UK preparedness, changes in our food system, pantry building, growing your own, power cuts, water outages and the practical things ordinary households can do to become better prepared.
I’m also the founder of UK Preppers Club, a Facebook community for people interested in preparedness and self-reliance without having to fit the stereotypical image of a prepper. To me, most preppers are simply ordinary people who would rather have a plan than be completely caught out.
My interest in practical resilience has also taken me beyond YouTube. For two years I exhibited at The Bushcraft Show, where I had my own stand and gave talks on food preservation and storage. I’ve also written for The Bushcraft Magazine, sharing practical ideas around food, preparedness and self-reliance.
A lot of what I share comes from actually doing it at home — growing food, preserving harvests, maintaining a working pantry, experimenting with food storage and learning what genuinely works for a normal family.
More recently, I’ve started turning that experience into books and practical tools.
My Resilience Garden Planner was created as a working garden log to help people record what they sow, grow and harvest and learn from each season.
I also created " How to Stock Up for an Emergency", a straightforward guide for anyone who wants help working out what food to store, how much they may need and how to begin building an emergency food supply without overcomplicating it.
And my larger book, Resilience Starts at Home, brings together the food-first approach that runs through much of what I do.
I don’t believe preparedness needs to be frightening, extreme or expensive.
I believe it can simply be part of normal life — and that even small changes can make an ordinary household much more capable when things don’t go quite to plan.
